Based on a set of works from the Portuguese State Contemporary Art Collection (CACE), the Human Jar exhibition reflects on the idea of human singularity and the contemporary need for its evolution, which, through additions and accessories, resembles a human-object. The curatorial proposal interprets this phenomenon in favor of a hybrid body in which matter and volume are synthesized with metaphysics and poetry. Each of the works establishes a relationship of proximity and tension with the others, creating places that enable speculation, in a space that offers a parallel dimension, with its own logic and ecosystem, where bodies as we know them are no longer essential. Human Jar is an exercise about materiality and consciousness in the face of the increasing objectification of the body and a new contemporary perception of the human dimension. Throughout its journey, the public will not see themselves represented. The body slides into a secondary layer, and its presence is only revealed through places of passage, personification of objects, or the representation of practical scenarios.
